my mom’s ancestral heritage
is White and White
so my ancestral heritage
is Black and Red and White.
A few weeks ago I complied
to questions about my ancestry,
necessary to get a lab’s test results.
After getting the lab work completed,
I asked the information intake person
for a copy of the form she completed.
The paperwork had the ‘African American’
box checked under ethnicity, even as
I had stated “Black, White and Red”.
I asked the African American woman
to rerecord my ethnicity correctly.
She did, noting I was mult
