I know shame,

I know shame,
for returning

from Vietnam.
Many others
did not return

in one piece.
Now see
the big picture.

War is war
from cave and tree
days we killed

each other,
for difference
has costs.

You’d think
after all this time
we’d see

the illusion
of difference
is a killer.

I say ‘we’ meaning
you and me,
us and them.

The wise ones say
‘We are One’
body of love.

Which is it?
‘You and me.’
‘We are one.’

Don’t ask me.
I am here, there
and everywhere.
